For a 25 year, I'm left underwhelmed. I've tried to like this bottle over the years, trying it at different times, but it lacks complexity and is nothing special that you can't find for much cheaper.
Nose Coriander Orange peel Plum Palette Honey Fruit loops Lemongrass Oak Dry Finish Orange peel Dark cherry Sour ash Honey ToastThis is one of my favorite whiskeys. It has an interesting history, distilled from craft beer, then aged and blended in various ways. I snagged one of the limited 846 bottles, and happened to find another one later on. On the nose, I get apples and cinnamon, beachwood, and vanilla. On the palate, caramel, dried fruits, hay, honey, and some hops. The finish is all hops, but not in the IPA-way—it's dark and mellow, but you know it's hops. Lots of rye spice and strong oak flavor throughout. If you don't know Wolves yet, you should. And keep an eye out for a rerelease of this one.
Dark fruits, cherry, woody oak, cigar smoke, and dark cocoa. If you aren't a fan of Laphroaig's usual medicinal profile, this is a scotch for you, and if you are a fan, this is still a scotch for you.
Less heat than I was expecting. Very smooth. Lots of delicate flavors break through the characteristic Lagavulin smoke and peat — vanilla, charcoal, lemon peel, cocoa, and a sort of briney char. Very enjoyable.
