Thompson Bros. Old Rhosdhu is a 32-year-old single malt Scotch whisky, distilled in 1994 and bottled at 49.4% ABV. This release was matured in a Madeira cask described as a barrique, a type of oak cask often associated with wine maturation.

For a novice drinker, the age and fortified-wine cask suggest a whisky that may show mature oak alongside richer fruit influences from the cask. The strength is robust but still in a range that can reward slow sipping, with or without a little water.
