Bottle selected by world-renowned Scottish whisky expert and writer Charlie MacLean* The colour of amontillado sherry, the first impression on the nose is of coated cardboard, new carpets, woollen mill (slightly industrial, oily, with lanolin) – nose-drying in effect. A drop of water softens the nose and raises buttery toffee (butterscotch, Werther’s Originals), but the aroma is still shy and reserved.
