The nose suggested caramelised apple, vanilla, almonds and cherries, effervescent vitamin C tablets, orange boxes and tea chests. The palate was lively and lovely – creamed coconut, fudge and toffee to start, then zesty lemon meringue pie, lime sorbet and gooseberry fool; the slightly drying finish left traces of tar, salted leather, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove.
