The nose was a laurel wreath on which gentle peat smoke was intertwined with butterscotch and malt extract. On the palate, that sweet smoky combo appeared again – Moffat toffees rolled in ash, honey and humbugs were all softly pacified by a beekeeper’s puff of smoke; the finish included willow twig and pencil-end woodiness, and dark roasted coffee beans.
