Nosing this, we were working in the garden – drying flowers, trimming rhubarb, dead-heading geraniums and picking herbs – plus sipping cocoa while arranging a fruit bowl. On the palate we raided that fruit bowl (mandarin, apricot and juicy peach) and found a finishing flourish of almonds, cinnamon and pepper.
