A steady cavalcade of aromas gently introduced salty sea air and rock pools with distant wood smoke that brought with it kedgeree, coal dust and lavender. On the palette charred cereal flavours merged with ash and soot while a wave of fruit chutney became more herbal and medicinal with time.
