The sweet, woody fragrance of pencil shavings combined with vanilla sponge cake, cherry sweets and coconut, like a treasure trove in a lunchbox. We placed the lunchbox in a soft leather satchel, at the bottom of which lay the sticky remnants of aniseed sweets, strawberry shoelaces and ginger biscuits.
