The nose was a rewarding combination of poached pears and stewed apples with golden syrup, salted caramel and maple candies, waxed jackets and old style wooden pencil boxes. The palate gave us tinned pears and apricots in syrup, crystallised ginger and Liquorice Allsorts, waxed canvas and hints of tobacco.
