In the midday shade of the lemon tree we sat enjoying the aromas from the nearby flowering laurel hedge and honeysuckle. Spread out before us was our afternoon tea of Chinese lemon chicken, quince jelly on spicy rye bread and baked apple tart with plenty of nutmeg and ginger.
