The nose starts fresh, fruity and bright (wine gums, peach melba) but deepens with time to tawny port, barrel staves and dunnage. The big, intense palate combines red apple skins, pomegranate, cherry stones and kirsch with salted liquorice, wood char, citrus peel and ginger wine; the finish dry.
