The nose reminded us of candy peanuts, flapjacks, French Fancies and caramel Angel Delight, with hints of hessian sacks, straw and Plasticine flowers. The palate had an interesting duality – a sweet side (Parma violets, orange liqueur, dates and fruit cake) and a warm, spicy, playing-on-the-tongue element of sugar-coated fennel seeds and new oak.
