The nose started with fruit salad chews and trifle (especially the fruit and jelly) – then we got cigarette packets, ash, wood char and incense burning in a Greek Orthodox thurible. The neat palate packed some playful, spicy heat – ginger, wasabi and cough lozenges – all balanced by the pleasing sweetness of plum jam, marzipan and dark honey.
