We found ourselves in the “rude and prickly bower” described by Robert Burns in his love poem, surrounded by “rosebuds in the morning dew”, emitting earthy sweetness, enticing wood spice and a prickle of gorse. On the nose comes to mind almond butter, old toffee penny sweets, dried banana skin and coconut husks.
