Barley farmers first
George Strachan and his brother Nat moved to Mill of Balmaud Farm in 1958.2,3 In 2014 the farm put up two 2.3-megawatt wind turbines, whose power first went to the grid.1,3,4 In November 2021, Aberdeenshire councillors approved Wilson Strachan's plans for a distillery at Yonderton Farm.2,5,6 Later, new buildings replaced the old farm buildings, which were too low for the stills.2,5,6
First spirit
Distilling began in January 2025, and the first casks of spirit were filled on site in February.
