Miyagikyo is a distiller located in Japan. It was established in 1969 and is known for its unique approach to whiskey production. Miyagikyo distillery is situated in the Miyagi prefecture, which is known for its pure water sources and mild climate. The distillery takes advantage of these natural resources to create a range of high-quality whiskies.

Miyagikyo produces a variety of whiskey styles, including single malt and blended whiskies. The distillery is known for its meticulous attention to detail and traditional production methods. They use copper pot stills and age their whiskies in a combination of American oak, sherry, and other cask types. Miyagikyo whiskies are characterized by their smoothness, complexity, and delicate flavors.

Interesting fact: Miyagikyo is part of the Nikka Whisky Distilling Company, which was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, known as the father of Japanese whisky. Taketsuru studied the art of whisky making in Scotland and brought his knowledge back to Japan, where he established Nikka and its two distilleries, including Miyagikyo.
