I’m not usually a big fan of this style of malted whiskey but it packs some flavor. The taste is an immediate hit of strong but balanced medicinal notes.
Really like the intensity on this one. Has the nice rich peated flavor that pairs well with a little water or some large rocks.
Great light flavor.
Nose very much comes off like a Laphroaig, but way more subtle on the tongue. Very drinkable, and far less smoke flavor than typical.
Great peat without the smokey kick of something heavier like a Laphroaig
I struggle to grasp the quality of bourbon. This is good - sweet like you’d expect, but not in a negative way. Will give it another try in the future.
It’s interesting trying this again. I used to love the simplicity of Hibiki, but now I’ve come to avoid it. Maybe just a shift in what I like, but the rise in price of these def hasn’t helped. Still very easy to drink and a great label to reach for if you dislike the intensity of typical scotch.
Really interesting - root beer def hits the mark. Lots of woody flavors on the tongue.
Not the most easy sipping. Rocks may be making it worse! Pretty intense bite on first taste.
Huge kick of coffee flavors as soon as it touches your tongue. Been a while since I've had this one.
The age on this one makes it very smooth and well balanced. Reminds me of a young bourbon without the kick and a bit of fresh greens.
Was excited to try this one and support a new local distiller. It is exactly as described - lots of Eclipse flavor, just like the barrel aged beer. Sharper than the beer and more enjoyable imo.
Flavor is very intense. Not bad, but def not my thing.
Honestly, it’s good. No burn for being barrel proof. Strong banana tones. Overall really enjoyable if you want something sweet.
Really brings out the flavor with a bit of water - or ice in tonight’s case.
