I’m not usually a big fan of this style of malted whiskey but it packs some flavor. The taste is an immediate hit of strong but balanced medicinal notes.
This is one of my favorite whiskeys. It has an interesting history, distilled from craft beer, then aged and blended in various ways. I snagged one of the limited 846 bottles, and happened to find another one later on. On the nose, I get apples and cinnamon, beachwood, and vanilla. On the palate, caramel, dried fruits, hay, honey, and some hops. The finish is all hops, but not in the IPA-way—it's dark and mellow, but you know it's hops. Lots of rye spice and strong oak flavor throughout. If you don't know Wolves yet, you should. And keep an eye out for a rerelease of this one.
