Blackadder is an independent bottler that Robin Tucek and John Lamond, co-authors of the 1987 book The Malt Whisky File, founded in 1995.1,2,3 Its Raw Cask range, launched in 2000, is minimally filtered, and every bottle holds some cask sediment.2,4,5 Tucek now runs the business with his son Michael and daughter Hannah.1,2
Raw Cask began as seven whiskies sold through duty free.2,4,5 In 2001 Lamond left, and that year Tucek ran the business on his own from Stockholm.4,6 By 2001 a bottling company in Paisley bottled for Blackadder under the firm's strict rules.6 Some bottlings, such as Blairfindy, did not name the distillery.6
Tucek's daughter Hannah joined the company in 2005.4 In 2014 his son Michael, a former chef, joined the business.1,2 That year it introduced Black Snake, made in sherry butts that are two-thirds bottled after about a year and then topped up, a kind of mini solera.5,7
