On the nose, sugared almonds, victoria sponge, and a maple and pecan danish mingled with summery, outdoor suggestions of carnations, beeswax, pine forests and lakeside irises. The anticipated sweetness arrived on the palate eventually in the shape of honey, condensed milk and custard creams, but only after the initial white pepper and pickled ginger heat settled down.
