Peated
It’s not your typical heavy sherry. I’m still not a big sherry fan but this one surprised me.
Really enjoying this one.
A lot of fruit on the nose and much more green on the palette.
Lots of sherry. Needed some time to open up.
A maritime Talisker with vanilla, crème brûlée, smoky fudge, preserved lemons and fir liqueur, praised as a genuine miracle despite its modern oak influence.
A maritime, fishy beauty with sumptuous salinity, this is described as a work of art whose decades in bottle softened the peat rather than dulling it.
A magnificent sherry profile delivers walnut cake, citrus, tobacco, chocolate and coffee, with everything melded together spectacularly.
An excellent peat and sherry combination, with leather, tobacco, bay leaf, pink grapefruit and tapenade, finishing long and saltier than seawater.
Wonderfully elemental, with smoked oysters, seaweed, iodine and salted butter on the nose, while the palate turns intensely salty and peppery.
Very peaty. Lots of smoke on the palette. My first Port Ellen!
Very unexpected. The first Oban I've had that I thoroughly enjoyed.
A phenolic, maritime Scapa with cider, paraffin and seaweed, though age-related dryness gives way to a salty, bitter finish.
A well-made, characterful whisky with oily texture, orchard fruit, biscuits and chalky minerality, ending on peppery oak, salted pear and mineral notes.
