Thompson Bros is an independent Scotch whisky bottler based in Dornoch in the Highlands of Scotland, founded by brothers Phil and Simon Thompson. It emerged from the brothers’ work in the town’s whisky bar and retail shop and became known for a modern, small-scale approach to selecting and releasing whisky.
Highly drinkable, with unique fruity notes, balanced dryness and a lovely grapey touch; rather excellent overall.
Mineral and saline notes mingle with candied cherries, citrus, gingerbread and caramel, making this decent whisky despite being an atypical Clynelish.
A delightful, quintessential single malt with waxy, fruity notes of quince, green pineapple and apricot, though it stops just short of excellence.
Lots of rich fruit for me, almost dessert-like. Very short finish.

A beautifully citrus-led Clynelish, balancing mandarin, chalk and seawater with a surprisingly fizzy, champagne-like character and a very dry palate.
Complex aromas of sour plums, marmalade, candied ginger and dark honey lead to a bittersweet, oily palate with herbs, liquorice and tropical fruit syrup.
A sweet, spicy whisky led by toasted wood, maple, blackberries and caramelized nuts, with a long finish of liquorice and oak spice.
A very enjoyable and focused whisky, with a simple mix of lemon, chalk and subtle sweetness, alongside green apple, menthol and vanilla ice cream.
A very good Clynelish with lovely waxiness and a perfect balance between vibrant fruits and austere, maritime notes.
