Very enjoyable
I dont think I'd reach for this but its got a nice flavor. Definitely better than the baseline Jameson bottles.
It's a little one dimensional for sipping, but I bet it would be good in a Manhattan or some other cocktail where it could layer with other more complex…
Deeply sherried yet juicy and fruity, with cherries, cranberries, sour plums, cocoa and leather; the reviewer calls it an excellent, luxurious dram.
Dark and brooding, this whisky is extremely rich, balancing sweet PX notes with savoury tobacco, leather, rancio and dark chocolate.
A beautiful, elegant dram with old-style evolved peat, blending earthy, smoky notes with fruit, peppery honey and a long mineral finish.
A truly great Caol Ila: fruity yet deeply sooty, with fatty oils, fading smoke, salty edges and a warming tobacco-and-medicinal finish.
A spectacularly fruity nose leads to a palate with stone fruits, charred mocha, mint and earthiness, followed by a long, spicy finish.
Rich coconut cream, pineapple, banana and honey meet fresh oak and citrus, though the palate is slightly over-oaked in the reviewer’s opinion.
A complex nose balances chimney ashes, herbal notes and fruit sweetness, while the palate brings red berries, roasted walnuts, bitter chocolate and warming…
A very pleasurable Longmorn with syrupy fruit, citrus and hazelnut cream, significantly improved over time; adding water brings out more complexity and balance.
A creamy profile mixes nicely with chalky and waxy elements, bringing ripe pear, apple eau-de-vie, lemon candy, grapefruit, grass, white pepper and candied…
Sweet pear, apricot and malt give way to caramel, toffee and chocolate, but loud oak and an overdone malty-caramelly character make for a less elegant dram.
Tropical fruits and smoke can mingle very well, but here the sharp peat and woody notes make the whisky feel unbalanced.
Tropical fruits come to the foreground, but lactic notes and vegetal elements on the palate bring down the overall enjoyment.
